LA RITIRATA & JOSETXU OBREGÓN - Spain
Founded by Josetxu Obregón, La Ritirata takes its name from the last movement of 'Musica notturna delle strade di Madrid', the famous quintet composed in Spain by Luigi Boccherini.
Combining precise historical knowledge of instruments and aesthetics with the highest artistic quality, La Ritirata bases its repertoire on baroque traditions from all over Europe. Bach and Handel rub shoulders with various Italian and Spanish court composers from the early Baroque period, as on the CD 'Il Spiritillo Brando' (Glossa). As his name suggests, Boccherini holds a special place for the ensemble's musicians, and it's only natural that La Ritirata should take a closer look at classicism, playing his cello sonatas, string trios and other chamber music.
