Protean Quartet are winners of the 2022 York Early Music International Artists Competition 

Protean Quartet were awarded the prestigious first prize at the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition (National Centre for Early Music) last month against fierce competition from six other highly talented international ensembles. The ensemble receives a professional recording contract from Linn Records, £1,000 cash prize, and opportunities to work with BBC Radio 3 and the NCEM.

The EEEMERGING+ Prize, the Friends of the York Early Music Festival Prize and the Cambridge Early Music Prize were scooped by ApotropaïK from France and the Prize for the Most Promising Young Artist/s was awarded to UnderStories from Italy. The other finalists were: Ensemble Augelletti (UK), Harmos Winds (Netherlands), Liturina (UK) and Palisander (UK).
