REMA participates in the launch of the European Keyboard Heritage Network

The symposium will explore how historic keyboard instruments can once again become part of the places for which they were originally created, while helping heritage sites connect with new, younger and more diverse audiences. The programme will address both the storytelling and presentation of these instruments, and the practical challenges of keeping them playable, including restoration, craftsmanship, maintenance and suitable locations.

REMA is supporting the development of this initiative alongside organisations including Europa Nostra and the Centre Européen de Musique. The network builds on the Tune-In project, launched by Museum Geelvinck in 2025 in cooperation with the International Music Council (UNESCO), which explored new ways of connecting early and classical music with other cultural traditions and audiences.

Following the Utrecht symposium, a series of international webinars will take place throughout 2026 and 2027, leading towards a second international symposium in September 2027.
