EU Consultation on Future Cultural Funding - please reply to the survey until 6 May!

EU Consultation on Future Cultural Funding - please reply to the survey until 6 May!
The EU is preparing its next 7-year budget (2028–2035).

For decades, early music has thrived in Europe thanks to cross-border collaboration, mobility programmes, and cultural funding. But these opportunities are not guaranteed. With shifting political priorities and increasing competition for resources, now is the moment to defend our sector and make sure early music remains a key part of Europe’s cultural future.

Why we need to act

The European Commission is reviewing how the EU supports areas like culture, education, youth, media, and civil society. They are asking the public to help shape the next long-term budget through an open consultation.

Culture Action Europe warned its members that there are increasing "whispers" that the European Commission might seek to merge Creative Europe with the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme under a broader "Values and Democracy" umbrella. This merger could dilute the unique focus on culture, potentially prioritising media initiatives—particularly in the fight against disinformation—at the expense of dedicated cultural support.

If we speak up together, we can:

  • Protect funding for international projects, festivals, residencies, and education
  • Ensure emerging artists in historically informed performance are supported
  • Advocate for the unique cultural value of early music across Europe

Take action now

Respond to the EU consultation under the theme:
“Cross-border education, training and solidarity, youth, media, culture and creative sectors, values, and civil society.”

🗓️ Deadline: 6 May 2025
