Consultation Open for the European Culture Compass

Consultation Open for the European Culture Compass
The European Commission has launched the first public consultation for the upcoming European Culture Compass — a strategic initiative aiming to shape future cultural policies across Europe.

🗓️ Deadline for contributions: 13 May 2025

This initial phase is a Call for Evidence. It does not ask for input on specific policies, but rather invites stakeholders to share their reflections through:

  • A single open-ended question (max. 4000 characters)
  • An optional supporting document upload

We strongly encourage all stakeholders to participate and ensure the voice of the early music sector is heard.

🔍 The consultation page provides a downloadable Call for Evidence document, outlining the political context, objectives, and target groups. Notably, it identifies several key challenges, such as:

  • Restrictions to artistic freedom
  • Precarious working conditions in the cultural sector
  • The impact of AI on human creativity and artistic value
  • Access barriers to culture (especially for disadvantaged groups, youth, and rural areas)
  • The need to better understand and harness the sector's potential for innovation and EU competitiveness
  • The transition towards sustainable business models
