Press release: Accord Majeur meetings in Aix a success, but Minister disappoints expectations of a sector in crisis
"The heritage and creative music sector was gathered in Aix-en-Provence for the 11ᵉ rencontres nationales d'Accord Majeur. The profession as a whole was hoping that the Minister would present elements of a response to the structural problems it is going through.

While the sector notes the prospect of a mission on independent ensembles and the announcement of a co-production fund, the contours of which have yet to be specified, a number of issues remain unresolved.

What is the minister's ambition?
- for creative music - which is particularly vulnerable?
- for festivals, which are not mentioned in today's announcements?
- for music institutions, which are awaiting the official signature of the lyric and symphonic pact by the parties involved, after more than two years' work?

These measures cannot be implemented without consolidated budgetary resources. We salute the efforts of the Minister, who has stated her commitment to defending them as part of the drafting of the 2024 Finance Bill.

Nevertheless, it is now essential for the whole of the music sector, both permanent and independent, that its work is recognised for its contribution. Commitments must be made: it is up to the structures and professionals to implement their public service mission, and it is up to the State and local authorities to guarantee that they do so by by strengthening their cooperation.

We are counting on the State to bring to life the consultation bodies provided for by law at regional level, such as the territorial conferences on public action, in order to guarantee equal access to culture across the country and mobilise local authorities where they are not.

We are still waiting for a strong signal."
