Giovanni Acciai nominated Honorary Member of the International Gregorian Singing Studies Association
As part of the XLI International Gregorian Singing Course held in Arco (Trento) from 20th to 25th July, Professor Giovanni Acciai was nominated Honorary Member of the International Gregorian Singing Studies Association (A.I.S.C.Gre).
The acknowledgment, conferred by the Governing Council of the Italian section, wanted to honor the Maestro's long career and important contributions in the field of sacred music, especially the ancient one.
A particularly formative moment for all participants in the Arco course was the Lectio magistralis held by Professor Acciai on Thursday 23 July 2020, «Notum Fecit. Five centuries of Gregorian cantus firmi, from Perotinus to Monteverdi», a historical-musicological excursus on the permanence and constant use of Gregorian melodies within the polyphonic compositions through the centuries.
