The festival dedicated to the early piano: some 17 original historic pianos from the 18th and 19th centuries are performed on. These are part of the collection of period pianos of the Geelvinck Music Museum. This year’s theme is the Music Salon.
This 9th edition of the festival consists of over 30 concerts, an evocation of a Schubertiade, a contemporary music salon dedicated to Omar Khayyám, an Early Piano Stroll, the 8th ‘New Frontiers’ (an evening dedicated to premièrs new compositions for early pianos), three days with Master Classes and an International Scientific Symposium. Our artistic director, dr. Michael Tsalka, invited Wolfgang Brunner (Mozarteum), Richard Egar, Andrew Kirkman, Marina Rodriguez-Brià, Olga Pashchenko, Jed Wentz, Noam Vazana, Rembrandt Frerichs. Megumi Tanno and many others, including emerging talents, such as Naruhiko Kawaguchi, Patricia Garcia Gil and Aurelia Visovan. Zutphen is a charming small, historic city in the Eastern part of the Netherlands, which boosts being the actual place of birth of Ludwig van Beethoven in 1772.
