Culture Action Europe: ‘BEYOND 2025: Being Many’
REMA was represented by Vice-President Susanna Bucher and Production Manager Francesco Spina at the conference ‘BEYOND 2025: Being Many’. Their presence ensured that the voice of the early music sector was heard in the high-level discussions on the future of EU cultural policy.

Key messages included the need to preserve funding for culture as an independent priority in the next multi-annual financial framework and to use research and data strategically to defend the societal and economic value of culture beyond the sector itself.
The conference also highlighted the importance of extending advocacy efforts beyond culture ministries to include finance, foreign affairs and key MEPs. Artistic freedom was identified as a growing concern, while diversity and under-represented cultural heritage were noticeably absent from most conversations - areas where REMA can play a leading role.

For REMA, there are clear opportunities and responsibilities in this evolving landscape - particularly in areas such as artistic freedom, the diversity of cultural heritage and engagement in the forthcoming discussions on the code of practice for artificial intelligence!
