CMBV celebrates its 40th anniversary with a Concert des Amateurs dedicated to Lully
To mark its 40th anniversary, the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (CMBV) is launching a new artistic project: the Concert des Amateurs, inviting around 60 experienced amateur instrumentalists to take part in an adventure centred on the operas of Jean-Baptiste Lully.

Following several weekends of rehearsals, exchanges and immersion at the CMBV, the participants will perform on 11 June 2027 at the Manège de la Grande Écurie in Versailles, under the direction of Fabien Armengaud.

The project is open to 60 amateur instrumentalists with a minimum playing level equivalent to the end of the third cycle of a conservatoire. The instruments sought include recorder, transverse flute, oboe, bassoon, musette, trumpet, percussion, violin, viola, cello and double bass.
The ensemble will work on historical instruments, at a pitch of 415 Hz, offering participants the opportunity to explore the sound world and performance practices associated with French Baroque opera.

Applications will be open from 6 November to 6 December 2026. Selection will be based on an application form and a musical recording, with candidates informed of the outcome before the end of 2026.

Through this anniversary project, the CMBV offers experienced amateur musicians the opportunity to engage with the French Baroque repertoire, develop their instrumental practice and take part in a collective performance celebrating the music of Lully.
