ZEFIRO TORNA – where time breathes through music 

For thirty years, the transhistorical music ensemble ZEFIRO TORNA has been on an epic journey through time and sound. What began as a search for forgotten voices from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods has grown into a mesmerising interplay between past and future – a musical alchemy in which tradition and innovation merge into an experience beyond clear definition. 

Unbound by stylistic boundaries or linear time, the ensemble makes unusual connections – between music and literature, science, mysticism, visual art and performance. This cross-pollination gives rise to performances that are not merely concerts, but rituals: haunting, layered and symbolically charged.

ZEFIRO TORNA works with virtuoso musicians from all over the world and resonates with artists and thinkers who dare to break with the familiar: including Aïda Gabriëls, Ghalia Benali, Thomas Hauert, Mauro Pawlowski, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven and companies such as ICTUS, KVS, Laika theatre of the senses and Muziektheater Transparant.  

Their creations resonate in sacred and secular spaces: from the understated splendour of AMUZ, BOZAR, Casa da Música Porto, Concertgebouw Brugge, Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ Amsterdam, to the cosmopolitan energy of festivals such as Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, Laus Polyphoniae Antwerp, Morgenland Festival Osnabrück and O. Festival Rotterdam. 

Award-winning and released on labels such as Et'Cetera, Warner Classics, Homerecords and Evil Penguin Records, their oeuvre continues to expand – like an inexhaustible source of inspiration, reaching out towards new horizons.
