The Juilliard School - United States

The Juilliard School
Juilliard Historical Performance, a graduate program specializing in early music played on period instruments, offers a two-year Master of Music degree or Graduate Diploma. All admitted students receive a full-tuition scholarship and are part of a small and highly selective training program for postgraduate musicians who aspire to leadership in the field of early music. The program combines high-level performance training with rigorous academic study and incorporates courses in professional development and community engagement. Auditions take place in New York City.
The Historical Performance movement began as a revolution: a reimagining of musical conventions, a rediscovery of instruments, techniques, and artworks that inspire and teach, and a celebration of diversity in repertoire. It is also a conversation with the past. They do not seek simply to recreate what might have been, but to imagine what might be. They are committed to collaborations with scholars and performers from a diverse range of viewpoints and backgrounds, and they seek to share the music they love in active engagement with the community around them.
