MTÜ Studio Vocale / Haapsalu Early Music Festival - Estonia
Embraced by the Baltic sea, the cozy little resort town of Haapsalu has become a well-known summer hotspot for Early Music enthusiasts both domestic and international. For over 30 years the Festival has allured its audiences to spend a prolonged weekend being delighted by renowned performers from around the world. In 2023, an Early Music camp for young players was held for the first time during the festival, the final concert of the camp was part of Festival program. In 2023 and 2024, BBC Music Magazine shortlisted Haapsalu as one of the 30 best classical music festivals in Europe.
The Festival offers a great variety of concerts ranging from solo recitals to oratorial works all against the stunning backdrops of either the medieval Cathedral or the more intimate St. John’s Church just nearby. Starting 2025, the Artistic Director of the Festival is harpsichordist and former General Manager, Saale Fischer (PhD). The initiator and longstanding leader of the Haapsalu Early Music Festival, Prof. Dr. Toomas Siitan, continues as an Honorable Director.
