Music by Gioachino Rossini, Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Followed by creative workshops on upcycling and screen printing
For Gioachino Rossini, good food and good music were inseparable. “Eating and loving, singing and digesting – these are the four acts of the opéra bouffe, the title of which is life,” the composer is said to have remarked; he was also fond of serving up opera arias at his banquets. Salon Rossini makes the great melodies of Rossini, Strauss and Mozart suitable for a salon setting with a small ensemble. The five musicians play on instruments such as those used in Rossini’s lifetime – some originals, some faithful replicas. The instrumentation varies from piece to piece throughout the programme. The programme features not only arrangements by Rossini’s contemporaries, but also specially commissioned arrangements by guitarist Michael Goldort.
