Opera & Arabic classical music
The baroque music from Henry Purcell's opera “Dido and Aeneas”, interpreted by the ensemble Teatro del mondo with Anna Herbst in the main role, is performed alongside classical Arabic music for voice, oud and percussion by Rita William, Saif Al-Khayyat and Nora Thiele. They want to concentrate on the elements of music that also connect the world: As in the Baroque era, poetry, drama, spiritual and worldly themes, spirituality and unrequited love play a major role in Arabic classical music. Both here and there, the music is always based on affect and individual scales are assigned to particular human emotional moods.
