zamus: early music festival | Heavenly Bodies | Ensemble Hourglass

28 May/20h30 Germany / VENTANA, Elisabeth-von-Mumm-Platz 1, 50937, Cologne

Spherical harmonies and microtonalities between the renaissance and modernity

Inspired by the idea of the “music of the spheres” of the renaissance, the Ensemble Hourglass combines renaissance music with contemporary works.  It invites the audience to enter a concentrated and meditative state so that the effect of the music can unfold on the whole body. The highlight of the concert is a new work composed especially for Hourglass, demonstrating how music can not only be heard but also physically experienced. In addition, the program explores historical microtonality through sonically provocative Renaissance compositions.
