XXV Stockholm Early Music Festival 2026

Sweden / Stockholm

Jubilation for the Jubilee! Twenty-five years of the Stockholm Early Music Festival also represent a quarter century of modern early music history in Sweden. A vibrant French guest appearance and concertante opera open the festival: Il Caravaggio, under the direction of Camille Delaforge, rediscovers Les Génies by Mademoiselle Duval alongside Rameau’s Les Indes galantes. The world-renowned British vocal ensemble The Sixteen illuminates the wonderful art of Renaissance imitation, while Italian Baroque takes centre stage in the exclusive appearance of the talented countertenor Leandro Marziotte.

The medieval path from monophony to polyphony is explored by Germany’s Ordo Virtutum, while AnonymA/Sollazzo perform enchanting songs from The Leuven Chansonnier. The legendary singer Pino de Vittorio celebrates the 2500th anniversary of Naples together with Cappella Neapolitana, and Hamburger Ratsmusik presents the smallest and most virtuosic member of the viol family. The largest early music festival in the Nordic countries concludes with a dazzling finale direct from Barcelona: Opera Omnia and Spanish Baroque Fiesta!

Do not miss this: on Sweden’s National Day, Swedish 18th century composer C. M. Bellman’s only fully realised singspiel Bacchi Tempel receives its absolute world premiere after almost 250 years!

It’s never too late to celebrate early music!
