XIV COURSE AND INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL - EARLY MUSIC MORELLA

From 18 July to 24 July Spain / Morella (Castellón) Spain

XIV Early Music Morella
CARMINIS
18 - 24 July, 2021
Morella/Castellón/Spain

The 14th edition of Early Music Morella delves into the rich tradition of medieval and Renaissance song. This year’s program highlights the legacy of troubadours, Galician-Portuguese poetry and Renaissance polyphony, while we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of the great Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1594). The commemoration proposal centers around the program that AvocalCdM, the Capella de Ministrers academy, will premiere, focusing on the Song of Songs (Cantica Canticorum) by the great Italian master. We also commemorate with the Llibre Vermell the millennium of Santa Maria de Montserrat, founded in 1025 by Abbot Oliba, Bishop of Vic and Abbot of Ripoll, which has such a strong connection with the Dance of Death of Morella.

Beyond concerts and masterclasses, the festival offers guided tours, exhibitions, talks, and hands-on workshops, with a strong focus on bringing early music to a wider audience, both internationally and socially.

Additionally, the festival features four calls for young artists:

OPEN CALL

- Academia Vocal CdM
- Fringe

- Open Call Dance
