Soundscapes between mist and elegance

From 18 January to 18 January Germany / Greifenberg

– Various diminutions from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book

Maria Morozova-Meléndez (virginal)
Josué Meléndez (cornett, silent cornett and recorder)
The Fitzwilliam Book represents a musical source for keyboard instruments with what are arguably the most beautiful diminutions.
Some of these diminutions are so complex that they could seem almost nebulous, but their fluidity and brilliance always allow them to stand out with great elegance.
The programme includes dances, laments and hymns, as well as works on the themes of the forest, hunting and bells. British composers such as Peter Phillips, William Byrd, John Bull, Thomas Tallis and Giles Farnaby are featured, but the programme also includes several works by Luca Marencio, Giulio Caccini, Orlando di Lasso and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
