Like the troubadours of Occitania and the trouvères of northern France, the minstrels of our country also celebrated courtly love, thereby lending a literary nobility to the Middle High German language. Among themselves, the minstrels liked to call themselves ‘the nightingales’. Most of them belonged to the knighthood. Gradually, they broke free from their Romanesque models and developed their own art form in the 13th century. The French ensemble Céladon, led by countertenor Paulin Bündgen, carries on the tradition of the minstrels and explores the poetic and courtly world of the Middle Ages. The programme is dedicated to the singer-songwriters of the 12th century. On this occasion, drinks and rustic sourdough bread will be served at the VENTANA table.
Courtly love songs from the 12th and 13th centuries by Konrad von Würzburg, Heinrich von Meißen (known as Frauenlob), Albrecht Lesch, Bruder Wernher, Dietmar von Aist, Robin and Dem Unverzagten.
