VIRTUOSISMO ALLA “TODESCA”. Georg Philipp Telemann

From 06 October to 06 October Italy / Sassuolo

The concept of the "alla todesca" style comes to life through the extraordinary inventiveness of Georg Philipp Telemann and the noble writing of the Dutch Count Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer. The opening is entrusted to Wassenaer's Concerto Armonico No. 5 (long attributed to Pergolesi and Ricciotti), a work for six real parts that blends the Italian lesson with a profound expressive dramaticism. The heart of the program then explores Telemann's eclecticism, an absolute master in highlighting the personality of each instrument: from the virtuosity of the Concerto for recorder and transverse flute TWV 52:e1 to the textures of the Concerto for oboe TWV 51:c1, up to the brilliant weaves of the Concerto for two violins TWV 52:G2 and the Sinfonia a quattro. Entrusted to the ensemble Vicetia Musicalis with the concertation of Fabio Missaggia, the evening offers an eloquent testimony of the synthesis between the national tastes of the eighteenth century.
