The Truth about Love
27 September/19h30 United Kingdom / London
The Mozartists return to Cadogan Hall to celebrate Mozart’s birthday with this enchanting exploration of the multi-faceted theme of love in Mozart’s operas. The programme incorporates a selection of memorable arias and ensembles from The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Idomeneo and La clemenza di Tito – as well as less familiar highlights from La finta semplice and La finta giardiniera – and each musical item is preceded by a related poem (the selection includes poems by Shakespeare, Robert Frost, W. H. Auden, E. E. Cummings and John Fuller), providing fresh context, insight and narrative flow as well as humour and pathos.
The Mozartists have established an enviable track-record in discovering and developing world-class young singers, and the long list of acclaimed artists who worked extensively with the company at the outset of their careers includes Sophie Bevan, Allan Clayton and Louise Alder. The current crop of young singers is among the most exciting yet, and the five artists showcased in this concert are all destined for highly successful international careers.
