The Chiesa del Voto welcomes the mastery of Evangelina Mascardi, one of the most acclaimed international interpreters of the instrument, in a program dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach's lute production. Through masterpieces such as the Suite BWV 995 and the Prelude, Fugue and Allegro BWV 998, alongside pages by the great lutenist Silvius Leopold Weiss, the concert explores the charm and mystery of Bach's compositions for plucked instruments. Despite the complex gestation of these scores, the genius of Eisenach expertly transfigured the richness of counterpoint and dance into the intimate voice of the Baroque lute. Mascardi's interpretation restores the clarity of the polyphonic lines and the timbral depth of pages in which formal rigor meets extraordinary poetic freedom, offering a listening experience of rare intensity.
