St John Passion

01 April/21h00 Portugal / Porto

The Passion according to Saint John is one of the greatest artistic achievements in history, a masterpiece of sacred music. Two days before Good Friday 2026, we return to the score Bach wrote for the same occasion in 1724. Based on the words of the Gospel according to John, which tell us of Christ’s ordeal and suffering on his way to the cross, the music takes us through intense emotions: pain, suffering, hope and redemption. To perform this monumental score, the Baroque Orchestra and the Casa da Música Choir will be conducted by French conductor Léo Warynski, best known for his work with the renowned Ensemble Multilatérale and vocal ensemble Les Métaboles.
