Radiant Dawn: Cambridge
14 April/19h30 United Kingdom / Cambridge
Join The Gesualdo Six & Matilda Lloyd at OLEM in Cambridge as they present their stunning programme, Radiant Dawn, exploring different shades of light through music.
From religious processions to military victories, the combination of voices and trumpet has played a prominent role in concerts and ritual for centuries. Works from the Golden Age of polyphony by Tallis and White are juxtaposed with modern compositions by Roxanna Panufnik, Alec Roth and Deborah Pritchard. Highlights include Sir James MacMillan’s ‘O radiant dawn’, an evocative setting from the composer’s Strathclyde Motets, alongside Richard Barnard’s ‘Aura’, co-commissioned by the artists.

“I can vouch for the timbral magic created by the combination: Lloyd’s trumpet moves from being a luminous beacon to melding with the voices like syrup.” – Gramophone
