Eight centuries; that is the age of De Wijngaard, the Bruges beguinage that was founded in 1225. This little city-within-a-city was also figuratively central to mediaeval Bruges. Led by their Grand Mistress, the beguines forged close ties with prominent people and prestigious institutions both inside and outside their beloved Bruges. Psallentes explore how these ladies made their mark on the Procession of the Holy Blood and many other Bruges traditions.
