Prima d'esservi infedele | Cantatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and sonatas by Michele Mascitti

Always attentive to musicological research and to the realisation of unpublished projects, in May the Foundation will present the concert «Prima d'esservi infedele», from the title of the cantata of the same name by Alessandro Scarlatti, which, together with 12 other unpublished cantatas, will be published in 2024 by Turchini Edizioni, as a contribution to the celebrations of the Scarlatti Year. The critical edition of the cantatas will be edited by Valeria La Grotta, in the double role of soprano protagonist of the concert and author of the revision and critical transcription of the cantatas. From the entire corpus, three cantatas written between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century will be performed, accompanied by the Quartetto Vanvitelli (Gian Andrea Guerra, violin I; Nicola Brovelli, violoncello; Elisa La Marca, archlute; Luigi Accardo, clavi-organ) and Lena Yokoyama on violin, highlighting the nuances of the text and Scarlatti's mastery in the use of detail and the management of rhetorical dynamics between voice and instruments.
