Pied Piper: A Celebration of David Munrow

21 March/11h30 United Kingdom / Cambridge, UK

Join us at Pembroke College, Cambridge, for a special day of events honouring the life, brilliance, and lasting influence of David Munrow.

David Munrow was one of the most charismatic and accomplished performers of early music. From his vivid broadcasts that inspired a generation, to his revolutionary Early Music Consort, Munrow brought the sounds of the past to a wide audience with unparallelled artistry. Explore his legacy through lively panel discussions and performances ranging from the Medieval to the Baroque.

Delve into a full day of music and insight: starting the day with music by Perotin, William Eden and other new commissions performed by Cambridge Early Music Consort, John Turner, Adrian Bradbury and Harry Bowden.

Our first panel, chaired by Edward Blakeman, explores "Becoming David Munrow."

The afternoon starts with the Royal Academy of Music Recorder Consort performing ‘Mille Regretz’ followed by the second panel, chaired by Catherine Bott, "Popularising Early Music."

Join the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble at 3pm for an afternoon concert, featuring Susato, Praetorius, and more.

This is followed at 4pm by the final panel ‘Leaving a Legacy’ chaired by Nicholas Kenyon, exploring Munrow’s enduring impact on scholars and performers today.

Our final event of the day is ‘Come Ye Sons of Art’ - A celebratory concert featuring The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, the Geldart Ensemble, the RAM Recorder Consort and students from the University of Cambridge.

Tickets are available for the full day, or for the individual concerts.
