OSLO EARLY 2025 • Album italiano with Giulia Semenzato and Emil Duncumb
From 18 October to 18 October Norway / Oslo, Norway
Prize-winning Italian soprano Giulia Semenzato joins fortepiano virtuoso Emil Duncumb in a program that brings to life the dialogue between Italian opera and the Viennese lied tradition at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Forumopéra praises Giulia Semenzato’s “remarkable ease and high notes that are radiant and intoxicating,” while Olyrix highlights her “warm, engaging stage presence—simple, sincere, and full of subtlety.” In the concert Album italiano, she performs with fortepianist Emil Duncumb, winner of the 2022 The Young Lindeman Prize and described by Gramophone as “a master of gently theatrical timing.”
Together, they present a sparkling program of Classical and early Romantic gems, where Italian opera meets the Viennese lied tradition. Look forward to Salieri’s moving ode Deh si piacevoli, Mozart’s variations on Mio caro Adone, Beethoven’s Italian ariettas, Schubert’s aria Vedi quanto adoro ancora ingrato—alongside the bel canto elegance of Rossini and Bellini.
