Theresia Orchestra’s upcoming Wind Academy is dedicated to the tradition of Harmoniemusik, the wind ensemble genre that flourished in the Austrian and German-speaking world during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The programme combines original works for winds—such as Franz Krommer’s Partita in B-flat major, Op. 78 and Beethoven’s Octet in E-flat major, Op. 103—with a historical arrangement of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro by Johann Nepomuk Wendt.
Together, these pieces illustrate the artistic independence, versatility, and rich repertoire of Harmoniemusik, highlighting its role as both an alternative to the orchestra and a refined medium for chamber music and operatic transcription.
