NEW RECORDING
From 07 November to 10 November France / Charente
"Rebellion"
After three recordings devoted to the popular music of the 18th century and its connections with the learned traditions of Northern Europe, The Curious Bards are about to take a new step: the ensemble will record its fourth album with Harmonia Mundi. This programme celebrates Henry Purcell, the emblematic English composer of the 17th century, whose secular works reveal a deep influence of the popular music of his time. Between dances, songs, and catches, this new recording — enriched by the addition of the recorder and a specially built Renaissance cittern — offers a fresh perspective on Purcell’s popular and theatrical genius.
