Missa di Requiem by Domenico Sarro

The Fondazione Pietà de' Turchini, as part of the Tengo Genio 2024/25 musical season, is pleased to announce one of its most famous concerts: the performance of Domenico Sarro's Missa di Requiem, which will take place on Saturday 12 April, at 7 p.m., in the Church of Santa Caterina da Siena in Naples. This is a work of extraordinary artistic value, the first performance of which took place at the opening of last season. The programme will have a prestigious premiere on Friday, 11 April, at 5.30 p.m., in the Palatine Chapel of the Reggia di Caserta, as part of the 'Specchi di musica' (Mirrors of Music) event organised by the Università della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli. Performing the composer's first page from the first Neapolitan school will be the Talenti Vulcanici, directed by Stefano Demicheli and affiliated with La Stagione Armonica, with the participation of the Schola Gregoriana della Pietà de' Turchini, conducted by Lanfranco Menga. The musicological consultant is Paologiovanni Maione, artistic consultant of the Foundation and artistic director of the first edition of the university review, while the translations are by Enrico Gramigna.
The project is a co-production with the Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli and will be the subject of a record recording for Turchini Records thanks to the collaboration of the Fondazione Banco di Napoli.
