The success of the Baroque concerto comes alive again in the encounter between the great schools of Italy and Germany. Through the noble composure of Arcangelo Corelli's Op. VI No. 4, the genesis of the dialogue between the concertino and the orchestra is highlighted, a formula later revolutionized by Antonio Vivaldi's linguistic invention. Concertos No. 10 and No. 11 from Op. III "L'Estro Armonico", along with the Concerto in G minor RV 157, demonstrate the transition from a shared instrumental polyphony to a soloistic cantability of bursting theatricality. This new syntax, embraced and elaborated by Johann Sebastian Bach, finds resonance both in the breath of the Concerto in A minor BWV 1041 and in the rigorous nine-part architecture of the Third Brandenburg Concerto BWV 1048. Entrusted to the Ensemble I Musicali Affetti, the evening celebrates the 400th anniversary of the Chiesa di San Carlo in Modena as part of the 2026 edition of Grandezze & Meraviglie.
