MARS EN BAROQUE
From 01 March to 27 March France / Marseille
Baroque art, which originated in Italy, quickly spread throughout Europe and then the world. Of course, it was reshaped by multiple vernacular influences, but the essence of each of its manifestations remains deeply marked by that indefinable yet instantly recognisable quality that defines it as 'baroque'.
How two contemporary composers approached vocal music in Naples and Thuringia, first at the end of the 17th century (Erlebach and Veneziano), then at the beginning of the 18th century (Bach and Scarlatti), how Spain followed its own path by integrating its popular music, how a Saxon (Handel) found his definitive style in Rome, how Lithuania and Poland integrated Italian music, how the vocal duo, born with the Baroque, spread from Venice to Vienna, how Venice and Constantinople could come together for an exceptional evening.
We invite you to come and find out!
