LUX IN TENEBRIS - Bach cantatas
24 August/17h30 Italy / Polcenigo, Chiesa di San Giacomo
Johann Sebastian Bach wrote approximately 200 Sacred Cantatas with the specific aim of fitting into the liturgical context of Pietist and Reformed Germany of the 17th and 18th centuries. They undoubtedly constitute the most extensive corpus of the "kantor"'s output and, at the same time, one of the most interesting aspects of his stylistic poetics. The Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia has the ambitious project of exploring this monumental legacy, sharing it with the general public. This concert combines the Cantata BWV 140 and the Motet Der Gerechte kömmt um BWV 1149 with Heinrich Schütz's sacred work "Die Sieben Worte Jesu am Kreuz" and Johann Kuhnau's orchestration of the motet "Tristis est anima mea."
