In 1811, a medieval manuscript bound in a reddish cover was discovered — a medieval codex from a small monastery in Montserrat: the Llibre Vermell. These are songs and dances dedicated to the Virgin Mary, expressing the spiritual quest of pilgrims and inviting meditation.
The Llibre Vermell is a compilation of music, songs, and dances meant for pilgrims to sing and dance while keeping vigil through the night in the Church of the Blessed Virgin in Montserrat.
