The Journey from Rome - The Nebula

The young Marc-Antoine Charpentier spent three years in Rome, where he trained with Giacomo Carissimi and rubbed shoulders with Alessandro Scarlatti and Paolo Lorenzani. His music would always bear traces of this influence, something for which some would criticise him... Under the direction of Gabriel Rignol, the eight singers and eight musicians of the La Nébuleuse ensemble offer us a programme including ‘Plorate’, the sublime final chorus of Carissimi's Jephté, and some of Charpentier's most beautiful sacred works, such as the ‘Litanies de la Vierge’ and the ‘Miserere’.
