LE VERE VIRTUOSE
Duetti e Cantate di Giovanni Bononcini
secondo le inedite annotazioni di stile del suo tempo
Prima esecuzione moderna
Rossana Bertini soprano
Maria Chiara Gallo mezzo-soprano
Accademia d’Arcadia
An absolute first performance and a project of extraordinary historical importance. The program reveals duets and cantatas by Giovanni Bononcini from Modena, one of the most famous and acclaimed composers of the Italian Baroque, whose vocal music was the protagonist, in courts and theaters throughout Europe, from Vienna to London. The approach to performance is one of a kind: Accademia d'Arcadia, with the voices of soprano Rossana Bertini and mezzo-soprano Maria Chiara Gallo, adopts the unpublished style annotations – diminutions and variations – found in a Bolognese manuscript contemporary with the first performances. This document, probably unique, allows us to faithfully reconstruct an authentic musical performance of the past, overcoming the conventions of the manuscript score, usually without performance details. It is a real “musical recording on paper” that illuminates the art of vocal virtuosity of Bononcini's time. The commitment of Accademia d'Arcadia to this research guarantees the public an experience of rare authenticity.
