The Nightingale and the Emperor of China
09 October France / Lanvellec
Today, at a time when biodiversity is under such threat and birds are gradually disappearing from our soundscape, the La Rêveuse ensemble has joined forces with Cécile Hurbault, a specialist in Asian shadow theatre, to adapt Hans Christian Andersen's 1843 tale, The Nightingale and the Emperor of China.
This musical and ecological creation takes a contemporary look at the relationship between humans and animals and offers a mirror image of descriptive 18th-century French pieces about birds and original contemporary pieces written by composer Vincent Bouchot.
This show is also an opportunity to hear bird whistles and serinettes, instruments that have disappeared but were dear to bird catchers and bird lovers of the time... It charms audiences of all ages from 6 years old!
