Lamentazioni
From 04 April to 04 April France / Valmondois
As a counterpoint to the Leçons de ténèbres, Zad Moultaka constructs his Exercices de lumières, inserting oriental instruments and modes. The two cycles intertwine, with learned and popular Mediterranean traditions intersecting at the heart of a cathartic and radiant suffering.
A subtle weaving of vocal and instrumental lamentations from the Italian seicento for Holy Week, and contemporary laments, the concert stretches out these fragments of the Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah, a timeless symbol of despair, whose painful climate evokes the passion of Christ in a premonitory manner.
Programme: G. Frescobaldi, G. Carissimi, Z. Moultaka
CONCERTO SOAVE
(conducted by Jean-Marc Aymes)
Maria Cristina Kiehr | soprano
Caroline Delume | archlute
Christine Plubeau-Mazeaud | viola da gamba
Miguel Henry | orpharion
Jean-Marc Aymes | harpsichord and organ
