La Stella, Scarlatti(s) father and son - Jacques Moderne Ensemble

28 September France / Amilly

On the one hand, Alessandro Scarlatti (1660–1725) is renowned for his role in the development of Neapolitan opera and sacred vocal forms. His style is characterised by great expressiveness, melodic refinement and the use of rich polyphony. On the other hand, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757), trained by his father, forged a very different musical path. His music is imbued with a light and playful style, with Iberian rhythms.

This programme brings together these two composers, creating a fresco that combines the splendour of polychorality, virtuosity and the brilliance of the music with soloists and large choirs.
