Italy in Paris
From 26 June to 26 June France / Lyon
Between French suavity and transalpine audacity, Les Pages de la Maîtrise du Centre de musique baroque de Versailles revisit the finest French petits motets by Italianate Baroque composers. Italy has always been a source of inspiration and fascination for French composers. The “voyage d'Italie” was not only reserved for painters and architects, it was also an obligatory passage for many of them. This musical program highlights such composers as Nicolas Bernier, André Campra, Nicolas Clérambault and of course Marc-Antoine Charpentier, the greatest herald of the dialogue between French and Italian music.
PROGRAM
Petits motets by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Henri Dumont, Paolo Lorenzani, André Campra and Nicolas Bernier.
