The Golden Age of Versailles comes to life at the Teatro San Carlo through the French harpsichord school of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The program traces the evolutionary path that made the harpsichord the true protagonist of chamber music beyond the Alps. The opening is entrusted to Jacques Champion de Chambonnières and Louis Couperin, pioneers capable of transferring the elegance of the lute and the formal freedom of the Prélude non mesuré to the keyboard. The season of greatest stylistic flourishing is then reflected in the pages of Jean-François Dandrieu, rich in grace and descriptive suggestions, and in the visionary harmonic audacity of Jean-Philippe Rameau's L'Enharmonique, a piece of extraordinary experimental research. The conclusion is reserved for Claude-Bénigne Balbastre's virtuosic and extroverted La Lugeac. The performance is entrusted to the young talent Tommaso Bassetti, winner of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti.
