In the second concert of the opening evening, the vocal ensemble Cinquecento performs Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina’s poignant Lamentations of the biblical prophet Jeremiah. Through the contrasting concepts of order and chaos, homeland and exile, the ensemble approaches this particularly intense setting artistically.
