Ifigenia in Aulide
08 August Austria / Innsbruck
Every year, the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik offer wonderful opportunities to discover outstanding and previously unreleased music.
In August 2025, we will present the modern-day world premiere of Ifigenia in Aulide by Caldara. Based on Apostolo Zeno’s libretto, this Baroque opera is a true masterpiece that has long and unjustly been forgotten.
With an excellent cast and the imaginative direction of Anna Fernández and Santi Arnal (Per Poc company), Caldara’s music astonishes with its expressive power, refined structure, and profound emotional resonance.
The premiere is scheduled for August 8, with additional performances on August 10 and 12.

In Innsbruck, we will also pay tribute to Alessandro Scarlatti on the 300th anniversary of his death with a gala concert featuring a selection of sacred and secular works, both vocal and instrumental.
Finally, on August 30, Andreas Scholl will join Ottavio Dantone on stage for a recital of arias by Purcell and Handel.
