The understanding of humor, wit, and esprit has changed since the 18th century. Nevertheless, it is clear that Georg Philipp Telemann had precisely the energy and ability to observe his surroundings attentively and interpret them musically that we still grin, smile, and laugh at his comical works today. He plays with the listener's expectations, the texts he sets to music are ambiguous, and he has a heart for eccentrics. We start the new year with this cheerful program, which also allows for laughter.
