From 12 September to 01 November Italy / Modena, Bologna, Vignola, Sassuolo, Semelano
“Grandezze & Meraviglie - Festival Musicale Estense” returns with its 29th edition, confirming itself as a point of reference for early music and for the valorization of Estense sources. From September 12th to November 1°, the Festival offers a fascinating journey from the Middle Ages to the 18th century with music by Zacara da Teramo, Dowland, Monteverdi, Carissimi, Corelli, Marais, the Bononcini, Handel, Mozart and many others. The programme boasts prominent events, including the contemporary premiere of the Oratory of San Geminiano by Catterina Benedetta Grazianini (23 October, Modena Cathedral), concerts and initiatives for the 400th anniversary of the birth of Christina Queen of Sweden (18 October, Palazzo Ducale in Sassuolo; 25 October, Modena) and an original adaptation in “ancient style” of Vivaldi's Four Seasons (27 September, Modena).
The program welcomes international performers and promising young artists such as the baroque Ensemble Crescere in Musica and the soloist Tommaso Bassetti, winner of the prestigious 2025 National Arts Award. The offer is completed by concerts “0-12 Family Music” to introduce the little ones to the discovery of early music and by training and research projects.
