GRANDEZZE & MERAVIGLIE - 29TH FESTIVAL MUSICALE ESTENSE
From 12 September to 01 November Italy / Modena, Bologna, Vignola, Sassuolo, Semelano
"Grandezze & Meraviglie - Festival Musicale Estense” returns this autumn with its 29th edition, confirming its status as a point of reference for early music and the promotion of the Este musical heritage. From 12 September to 1 November, the Festival presents a fascinating journey from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century, featuring music by Zacara da Teramo, Dowland, Monteverdi, Carissimi, Falvetti, Corelli, Couperin, Marais, the Bononcinis, Händel, Telemann, Mozart, and many others.
The programme boasts major highlights, including the first modern performance of Catterina Benedetta Grazianini’s Oratorio di San Geminiano (23th October, Cathedral, Modena), a concert-performance marking the 400th anniversary of the birth of Christina of Sweden with Deda Cristina Colonna and Mara Galassi (18 October, Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo), and an original adaptation of Vivaldi's Quattro Stagioni in "stile antico" (23th September, Vignola)
The line-up features international performers alongside emerging talents, such as the Ensemble barocco Crescere in Musica and soloist Tommaso Bassetti, winner of the prestigious Premio Nazionale delle Arti 2025. The offer is completed by the "0-12 Musica Familiare" concerts, designed to introduce young audiences to early music, together with educational and research projects.
