GRANDEZZE & MERAVIGLIE - 28TH FESTIVAL MUSICALE ESTENSE
From 14 September to 05 December Italy / Modena, Bologna, Vignola, Sassuolo, Semelano
“Grandezze & Meraviglie - Festival Musicale Estense” returns this autumn with 24 concerts, cultural events, and school activities. Dedicated to showcasing the rarities of Early and Baroque music, the 2025 edition opens in Modena (14 September, Chiesa di San Pietro) with Guillaume Dufay’s Missa Reveillez Vous, performed by Ensemble Simonetta under the direction of Claudia Caffagni. The festival also presents baroque repertoire, such as Alessandro Scarlatti’s oratorio Il Martirio di Santa Teodosia —a new production by the Festival— with Compagnia de Violini, led from the violin by Alessandro Ciccolini (26 September, Chiesa dei Servi Servi, Bologna).
The program is particularly rich, with the complete Libro VI dei Madrigali by Monteverdi, oratorios by Carissimi and Charpentier, Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli, and works by the Caccini family, the Bach family, Telemann, Corelli, Torelli, Leclair, Couperin, Händel, Boccherini, Mozart, and more…
