Gloriosa - The Queen's Concert

This concert honours three women: Saint Cecilia, Susanna and Mary Magdalene. Their stories are set to music by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Henry Du Mont and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. A brilliant and renowned harpsichordist, she composed in all genres, including sonatas, cantatas and operas. Like Charpentier, her music combines French rigour with Italian expressiveness. As for Henry Du Mont, organist and music master to the Queen, known for his grand motets, his mainly sacred work is also strongly influenced by Italian music. A young ensemble and a soprano to discover.
